I’m Hunter (he/they), a queer musical theatre performer and poet based out of New York City. I received my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Sam Houston State University in 2019. Eat ‘em up, Kats!

Originally from Friendswood, Texas, I was first seen onstage as an angel in my church’s annual Christmas musical. It’s all been downhill from there. I started taking voice and dance lessons in middle school, and haven’t stopped since.

Professionally, I’ve toured both in the United States and internationally, sang lead in a cover band, and engaged in my fair share of virtual theatre during the pandemic. When not performing, I can be found curled up with a good book, wasting time on Tumblr, or at the nearest watch party for RuPaul’s Drag Race, airing Fridays at 8/7c on MTV!

Alongside my love for theatre, I’ve fostered a love for poetry. I took several creative writing courses throughout primary education, college, and beyond. In 2019, I was awarded the William C. Weathers Memorial Prize for my poem “On Bondage and Homoerotic Thrills.”

My poems have been featured in several journals, including: Passengers Journal, Moist Poetry Journal, Dollar Store Mag, Impossible Archetype, and more.
